Shared responsibilities model

In the usage of the NOUMENA technology, different components have distinct responsibilities. This document clarifies the individual and joint responsibilites of each component and users.

The share of responsibilities differs when self-hosting the NOUMENA Runtime versus using it managed on NOUMENA Cloud.

Using NOUMENA Cloud

The shared responsibilities model is forward-looking and states the target share of responsibilities. The divergences with the current state are listed below.

Current limitations:

(1) Users are not able to individually update dependency versions

(2) Spam prevention is limited

(3) Engine resource requirements cannot single-handedly be set by the user

(4) Rudimentary metrics are available in the Monitoring tab

(5) Request are optimised according to known usage patterns

(6) Users cannot single-handedly monitor their resources and usage
